The Labradoodle - intelligence and beauty....
From the combination of a Labrador Retriever
and a Standard Poodle,
emerges intelligence & beauty,
a sound mind with a gentle soul,
embraced by a healthy body.
Some call this combination “a mutt”,
some call this combination a Labradoodle,
I call this combination “perfection”
Welcome to my world…
My name is Judi, owner of Lucky me Labradoodles, located at the foot of Mount Shasta in Northern California.
What started out as the hunt for the perfect hiking companion has turned out to be quite an adventure.
Having owned and bred both Lab and toy poodles, I was facinated when a few years back I saw a segment on the Morning Show about designer dogs, a Labradoodle was one of them.
I have been dedicated to raising high quality puppies since 1976 & I now am a small home-based breeder of quality standard-sized F1B Labradoodles, breeding for the enjoyment of the puppies and to further promote Labradoodles that are of excellent health, conformation, and temperment.
I place great importance on the physical and mental health of my dogs and have selected the parents based on their genetic health as well as their gentle, non-aggressive temperaments. My adult dogs are AKC/ALAA registered and OFA certified, CERF tests are performed by a certified Veterinary Ophthalmologist to reduce the risk of any heritable eye diseases & DNA tests confirm there is no Von Willebrand's disease in my dogs. Your Labradoodle puppy will have it's dew claws removed and will be up-to-date on all vaccinations and de-wormings.
For the sake of responsible pet ownership, all my puppies are sold with a spay/neuter requirement in the Purchase agreement.
This helps us do our part in fighting the problem of pet-overpopulation and irresponsible breeding practices. If you are interested in learning more about breeding, please let me know so we can work together towards responsible breeding.
Adding a dog to the family is adding a new member. my goal is to place these special dogs into homes where they will be loved and cherished companions. I do this because I love the dogs, and the Labradoodle breed.
Although I have bred dogs for many years, I am what you would call a "hobby breeder". My dogs are not kept in kennels...they sleep at the foot of our bed (okay..sometimes on the bed too!), and live in our home. They are walked almost daily, and I plan my litters so that I can give them my undivided attention. My favorite part of the day is when I can sit with them and dole out hugs & kisses.....talk about being in heaven! This daily ritual gives me the chance to watch them & judge their individual personalities.
All of my puppies recieve love and care from everyone in the family.. The gentle & loving temperaments of these puppies make them the perfect choice for your family. By the time they are ready to go home with you, they will be used to cats, other dogs, vacumes cleaners, garbage trucks, telephones, etc..
These dogs are treated as family, and included in our daily routines.
What exactly is a labradoodle?
Combine the intelligence, aloof nature, delicate frame, and low-allergy and non-shedding traits of the Poodle, with the boisterous exuberance, lovability and loyalty of a Lab, and you have the perfect companion. Labradoodles are known for their outstanding intelligence and trainability, low allergy coat, low to non-shedding coat and lack of doggie odor.
Labradoodles have been bred with the purpose of providing a healthy, easy to maintain, friendly companion, especially to people with special needs. They make wonderful family pets and are friendly to people & other animals.
Labradoodles can make wonderful hunting dogs too.Standard Poodles were the original water fowl dogs bred in France so most love water and like to retrieve which surprises some folks. They don't tend to shed and don't throw dander, that's where our doodles get this from. They also don't put out the doggy odor that labs do.
Labradoodles are slightly heavier than the Standard Poodle with strong front limbs.
A dog is a lifetime commitment so we want prospective owners to thoroughly evaluate their lives before considering buying a puppy. Labradoodles are happiest indoors with their family. They are not a dog to tie to a chain outside. And, they are not a dog to leave alone for many hours at a time. They need their "pack" and they can be destructive from boredom if they do not receive adequate attention.
Labradoodles will bring a lifetime of joy, laughter, and fun as well as many loving memories!
This cross was first intentionally made in Australia to help a woman in Hawaii as she searched for a guide dog that would not cause her husband to suffer allergic reactions to the dog. The story is well known and often repeated in the Labradoodle circles. For more information go to Breed History page.
